Sony DVP NS57P S Progressive Scan DVD Player Silver

The DVP-NS57P/S DVD player features Precision Cinema Progressive technology, providing sharper images for a better viewing experience. Unlike other DVD players that detect image changes at the Scan line level-Sony’s Precision Cinema Progressive (PCP) system detects them at the Pixel level. This results in images closer to the original source data, because separate, optimized algorithms are used to handle the differing Pixel behavior. Separate algorithms are also used to process the moving and still parts of an image, resulting in sharp backgrounds with moving objects that are free from motion artifacts. Sony’s Precision Drive III mechanism is also included, which helps maximize the performance of DVD collections by reading data even on some physically “warped” discs. Other benefits include fast/slow playback with sound, and custom parental control.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Just bought my second of these
An excellent, reliable DVD player for the price. It doesn’t play video files (AVI, MPG, etc.), but that’s fine with me. My needs are simple, and this player meets them. It handles DVD+/-R and DVD+R DL discs as well as commercially produced DVDs, and — a great convenience — when I shut it off partway through a movie, it returns to that point in the movie when I turn it back on.

I now own two of these players, both going strong.

5 Stars Sony DVD player
This was given as a gift and the person who received it,said it is an excellent player.

5 Stars Great Basic Player ~The Best For Analog TV Sets.
I got this to use in my bedroom with an old analog set that I do not plan to upgrade. I frist tried an upconverting VCR with it and the picture was all distored. My 20 yr old set needed just a regular DVD.

This DVD player is that and more. It is built well and feels quality. I have watched about 12 hours of movies now and it has worked pefrfect. It also has a lot of extra features. Like play fast and play slow with voice which can be very fun. Lots of searching modes…skip, advances, you name it and this has it.

The best thing is being albe to use and analog set with excellent picture. Hard to find one that is not upcoverting and you don’t need that on a 20 year old set.

Great DVD player for the money.

4 Stars Well worth the price
Works fine and well worth the price. Just wish it were a bit smaller in length. It’s slim yet longer than most standard DVD players

2 Stars Bad Product
I bought the product because my old DVD player died. The message said it could not read any of the DVD’s I put in and I tried a number of different types that is said it would play. Nothing worked. I don’t know if I got a defective player or if the model is no good. On the good side, the refund was rather fast. I went to Walmart and bought a different brand instead.
